Our Shopping Cart Reviews:

Shopify is very simple and easy to use, but it does not have as many built-in features as 3dcart. But it has a much better app store to add more features, as well as a POS (point-of-sale) system for those with online and brick-and-mortar stores. Because a lot of features are available as apps and not built-in, your monthly costs can go up quickly for those features you may opt to add because each app typically has a monthly fee associated with it – on top of your base monthly fee. They also have transaction fees if you don’t use their payment gateway, but only on their lowest plan. Shopify is used by many very large companies and has excellent support. Overall, we like working with Shopify the best and their help area and documentation is fantastic.

3dcart is not quite as easy to use but has a lot of features that usually cost extra on the other cart systems. Things like quantity discount tiers, group pricing, wishlist, affiliate program, and more are standard in 3dcart whereas they could cost anywhere from $5-$30+ each per month using an app on the other cart systems. 3dcart does have an app store, but it’s for more specialized features that typical stores wouldn’t need. 3dcart’s support, in our experience, has not been as helpful as Shopify’s.

We by no means guarantee the accuracy any of the information provided above. We periodically check features of the cart systems we’ve compared, however we do not know and are not notified each time they may change their prices or service offerings. For current information, check with the provider before signing up for anything.
